The Art of Mastering Dancers
If you have seen people choreographing a dance so well and would wish to become and expert, you would need to know that it is possible to become one but it always tends to start from somewhere. One would need to begin by listening to a song first. However, you would need to remember that getting the right song tends to be the hardest or even the easiest part of choreographing. In some instances, it is possible to hear a song for the first time and just know that it is the one. However, there are instances you crawl the entire library but still do not get the best song. After figuring out a song you need to work on, it would be essential to listen to it with intent. You would also need to visualize the song even as you listen especially with the aim of understanding how you will move.
You would also need to get actively inspired. You would also need to practice on daily basis for you to become better on daily basis. Through practice, you would not necessarily have to draw your inspiration from other choreographers. It would only be possible to explore more especially where you practice more.
Freestyle tends to be imperative to any successful choreographer. You would also need to remember that usage of exact moves can make your moves hard to work on. You would need to let your body move and respond to the music. You would also need to let the body move freely to the music. You will note that your body naturally moves to certain sounds. Freestyling can help you develop a strong first layer of your choreography.
You would also need to learn how to piece combos to make sure there is a seamless flow. You would need to understand the climax, the instrumental interlude, the breakdown, or any other part of the song. You would need to remember that working on pieces tends to be easier as opposed to working on the entire song. There are so many instances that make people think that crazy combos are the only ones that can be thrilling. You would be surprised to note that that slow moment will turn out to be the most effective moment.
It would also be critical to make sure that your piece is not only perfected in your head but also in the movement of the body. You would also need to remember that your piece would have to look exactly how you choreograph. You may also need to figure out whether you need any edits and make rectifications where need be. You would also need to know that tucking the pieces together can be rough especially if you are new to dance choreographing.
